Camel Heritage Exhibition By Asaan At Saudi Camel Festival 2026 Highlights Enduring Bond Between People And Camels
Misk Heritage Museum "Asaan" is joining the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival 2026 with a special exhibition at Janadriyah camel racing field, presenting camel-related artefacts that explore how camels shaped life, movement, and culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across generations and remain central to national heritage activities.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Saudi Camel Racing Federation and features carefully selected pieces from the "Art of Heritage" and "Asaan" collections. Asaan, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), is participating in the festival for the first time, aligning this debut with its role in documenting and presenting Saudi heritage.

Through this joint initiative, Asaan and the Saudi Camel Racing Federation highlight their shared interest in camel heritage as a core element of Saudi identity. The museum frames this participation within its mission to display the richness and diversity of Saudi culture and to help preserve knowledge for future generations through public engagement.
The curated display focuses on artefacts linked to camel life, including objects associated with care, knowledge, and endurance. These items illustrate long-standing practices connected to camels and show how practical skills, travel methods, and daily routines have developed in the Kingdom while maintaining strong ties to historical customs rooted in desert life.
Asaan CEO Khaled Alsaqer stated: "Camels represent one of the most deeply rooted cultural symbols in Saudi society. They have been linked to the history of people on this land, shaping ways of life, economic activity, and mobility across generations. This significance remains strongly present today, expressed through sporting and heritage events that reflect the continuity and renewal of this legacy."
Building on this perspective, Alsaqer added: "Through Asaan's participation in the festival's third edition, we seek to embody the depth of the cultural relationship with camels, and to highlight how this heritage extends from its historical roots to remain present and evolving within the contemporary cultural landscape."
CEO of the Saudi Camel Racing Federation Eng. Mahmoud Albalawi emphasised that the collaboration with Asaan strengthens the festival’s cultural content and draws attention to non-material aspects of camel traditions, stating, "This participation represents a valuable and culturally rich addition to the festival. It goes beyond a traditional exhibition, serving instead as a knowledge bridge that enriches the understanding of camel heritage and presents it to the world in a deeper, more comprehensive, and modern way."
Linking the initiative to national objectives, Albalawi said: "This type of cultural partnership translates the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 into action by safeguarding heritage and anchoring it within future generations. We highly value this meaningful participation in this year's edition and look forward to expanding our collaboration in future editions, ensuring the festival's cultural impact remains sustainable and enduring".
