Art Week Riyadh 2025 To Showcase Saudi Arabia's Vibrant Art Scene And Cultural Dialogue
The Saudi Visual Arts Commission has announced the details for the first Art Week Riyadh, scheduled from 6 to 13 April 2025. This event will celebrate Saudi Arabia's vibrant art scene at various cultural venues like JAX District and Al Mousa Center in Riyadh. It aims to unite local, regional, and international galleries, artists, and art enthusiasts.
JAX District will be a focal point for Art Week Riyadh, hosting over 45 galleries from Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond. These galleries will present curated selections that explore cultural dialogues between Saudi Arabia and the global contemporary art scene. The district will also feature exhibitions in collaboration with influential cultural institutions.

The theme "At The Edge" guides this inaugural edition, focusing on three threads: Everyday Life, Landscapes, and Motifs. These themes highlight the intersections of tradition and innovation within local narratives and global influences. The flagship exhibition at JAX District will reflect these dynamic interactions.
Princess Adwaa bint Yazeed bin Abdullah Al Saud, head of Art Week Riyadh, emphasises the initiative's belief in art's power to inspire and connect people. She states that it is not just about showcasing exceptional works but creating a space where ideas intersect, reflecting Riyadh's growth.
A diverse cultural program titled "How to Art World? Lessons in Value" will take place at JAX District. This program includes talks and workshops addressing themes relevant to visual arts with input from local and global institutions. A moving image program will also showcase works by Saudi and international artists.
Art Jameel will present artworks highlighting video art development milestones in the region. These pieces address themes like identity and cultural transformations. Additionally, SRMG will explore Saudi abstraction through key figures such as Al-Saleem and Abdulhalim Radwi.
Spotlight on Local Talent
Al Mousa Center will host over 15 galleries featuring solo and group exhibitions tailored for Art Week Riyadh. These exhibitions reflect the Kingdom's diverse artistic landscape by highlighting both pioneers and emerging talents in Saudi art.
Prominent Saudi artists like Ahmed Mater and Ayman Zedani will open their studios for visitors during the event. This offers a unique chance for direct interaction with their creative processes. Resident galleries Athr, Hafez, and Lift will also present exhibitions alongside panel discussions.
