'Art Of The Kingdom' Exhibition Showcases Saudi Contemporary Artists At SAMoCA@Jax This February
The Museums Commission has announced that "Art of the Kingdom: Poetic Illuminations," a travelling exhibition featuring Saudi contemporary artists, will soon be displayed at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art at Jax (SAMoCA@Jax). This exhibition, which first appeared in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will run until 24 April 2025. It includes works by 17 notable Saudi artists from various backgrounds and artistic styles.
The exhibition will showcase a variety of artworks, including paintings, installations, and video pieces. These works explore themes related to Saudi Arabia's history, collective memory, and cultural traditions. The event aims to highlight the diversity and ambition of contemporary Saudi artists on an international platform.

Among the featured artists are Muhannad Shono, Lina Gazzaz, Manal AlDowayan, Ayman Zedani, Moath Alofi, Ahmed Mater, Ahaad Alamoudi, Shadia Alem, Faisal Samra, Ayman Yossri Daydban, Daniah Al Saleh, Filwa Nazer, Sarah Brahim, Ahmad Angawi, Nasser Al Salem, Basmah Felemban, and Fatma Abdulhadi. These artists represent different generations and regions within Saudi Arabia.
"Art of the Kingdom" initially debuted at the historic Paço Imperial in Rio de Janeiro in November 2024. During its time there, it attracted 26,000 visitors. Following its Riyadh showing at SAMoCA@Jax, the exhibition is set to travel to the National Museum in China later this year. This visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and China.
The Riyadh edition of the exhibition will include newly commissioned site-specific works tailored for SAMoCA@Jax. This addition aims to offer a fresh perspective compared to its inaugural presentation in Brazil. The Museums Commission highlighted that these new works would enhance the exhibition's appeal.
This travelling exhibition not only celebrates Saudi art but also strengthens cultural ties between nations. By showcasing these artworks globally, it contributes to forging new cultural narratives on the world stage.
