Aramco CEO Amin Nasser Addresses AI Deployment And Energy Transition Challenges At Forum
Amin Nasser, President and CEO of Aramco, addressed the Energy Intelligence Forum 2025 in London, discussing global energy transition challenges. He emphasised the importance of sustainable, affordable, and reliable energy policies. Nasser highlighted that oil and gas continue to be vital for the global economy and stressed the need to bolster all energy resources to meet increasing demand.
Nasser pointed out that many forecasts and scenarios about the energy transition are being revised by analysts to be more realistic. He believes this shift could encourage long-term investments in oil and gas sectors. Despite growth in electric vehicles and renewables, these sources are not meeting demand growth and remain limited in numbers, even in advanced economies.

Discussing Aramco's strategy, Nasser stated the company's commitment to maintaining its dominance in oil production due to its vast resource base and low costs. Aramco is also accelerating its gas production efforts, with significant reserves including unconventional gas potential. Chemicals remain a key area for long-term growth, leveraging Aramco’s strengths in feedstocks and conversion.
Nasser noted that unrealistic promises about the energy transition have led to unintended consequences. In the Global North, economic realities and technology limits have prompted policy changes. He remarked that public acceptance of current transition plans is also influencing these shifts.
Aramco is utilising advanced technologies like artificial intelligence across its operations. This is supported by major infrastructure investments and a SAR26.25 billion ($7 billion) venture capital program. The company is committed to enhancing efficiency while reducing carbon and methane emissions during early production stages.
Nasser affirmed Aramco's readiness to expand its presence in new energy sectors once they become commercially viable. This balanced approach aims to prepare Aramco for a realistic future while delivering long-term value to stakeholders globally.
