Arab Union Of Electricity Conference Commences In Riyadh To Foster Regional Collaboration
The 8th General Conference for the Arab Union of Electricity commenced in Riyadh, under the Ministry of Energy's patronage. This event focuses on boosting Arab collaboration in electrical energy, addressing sector challenges and opportunities, and exploring new technologies and sustainable solutions in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.
Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their support to the Kingdom's energy sector. He praised Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz for his guidance and the ministry's sponsorship of the conference. This is the first time it is being held in Riyadh to achieve shared goals among Arab nations in electricity.

Al-Qahtani highlighted that hosting the conference in Riyadh aligns with the ministry’s objectives to advance Arab electrical systems. This is consistent with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to keeping pace with global advancements across various fields. The Kingdom is currently working on large-scale projects to develop and expand its electricity sector infrastructure as part of Saudi Vision 2030.
The aim is to achieve an optimal energy mix for electricity production by reaching 50% renewable energy and natural gas by 2030. This strategy is expected to lower production costs, displace over 1 million barrels of oil equivalent daily, enhance electricity supply security, reduce emissions, and increase local content ratio.
Acting CEO of the Saudi Electricity Company and Conference Chair Eng. Khaled Al-Ghamdi stated that this year's conference provides a crucial platform for discussing recent developments in electrical energy. It also showcases innovations that improve infrastructure and boost the reliability of electrical grids across the Arab world.
