Arab League Members Convene In Jeddah For Transport Innovation Talks

The Transport General Authority (TGA) of Saudi Arabia recently played host to the 21st session of the joint meeting of technical committees for land, maritime, and multimedia transport. This significant event, which took place in Jeddah from May 5-7, saw the participation of representatives from Arab organizations, federations, and member states of the League of Arab States. The meeting was a focal point for discussions on a variety of critical topics within the transport sector.

Among the key issues addressed were the activation of Arab agreements and the enhancement of ship manufacturing, repair, and construction capabilities within Arab countries. Additionally, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in transport and logistics was a major topic of discussion, alongside the transportation of hazardous materials, and the standardization of dimensions, weights, and driving hours for vehicles. The meeting also covered the development and use of electronic platforms and transport databases.

Transport Talks in Jeddah

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took this opportunity to share its valuable experiences in the logistics and transport sector with attendees. A particular focus was given to its advancements in railway transport. Participants had the chance to visit Haramain express train stations in Jeddah Governorate and King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh, offering them a firsthand look at Saudi Arabia's achievements in this area.

Moreover, the Kingdom showcased its innovative use of AI in container handling during a visit to King Abdullah Port in King Abdullah Economic City. This demonstration highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to integrating advanced technologies into its transport infrastructure, setting an example for other nations in the region.

This gathering underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Arab countries in tackling common challenges within the transport sector.
