Arab Parliament Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Agreement As Vital Step Towards Lasting Peace

The Arab Parliament has expressed approval of the newly signed ceasefire agreement in Gaza. This development is seen as a crucial move towards halting violence and working towards a fair and lasting peace. Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, the President of the Arab Parliament, highlighted the agreement as a triumph for rationality, wisdom, and humanitarian principles, alongside international legitimacy.

Al Yamahi acknowledged the significant international and regional efforts that facilitated this agreement. He praised Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye for their vital roles in fostering dialogue and narrowing differences between parties. Additionally, he recognised US President Donald Trump's substantial contributions to achieving the ceasefire and enhancing both regional and global stability.

Al Yamahi emphasised that this agreement should initiate a comprehensive process focused on reconstruction, justice, and civilian relief. The aim is to prevent future humanitarian crises caused by war. He urged all involved parties to adhere strictly to the terms of the agreement.

The Arab Parliament's president called on the international community to ensure Israel's compliance with the agreement. He stressed the importance of ending unilateral actions that breach International Law, such as settlement expansion, settler violence, attacks on holy sites, and withholding Palestinian tax revenues.

He reiterated the Arab Parliament's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. This includes advocating for Palestinians' legitimate rights to self-determination and establishing an independent sovereign state. Al Yamahi also expressed readiness to support any Arab or international initiatives aimed at achieving a just peace.
