Arab Parliament Urges International Community To Uphold Responsibilities For Palestinian Rights And Peace
Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, has reiterated the parliament's steadfast support for the Palestinian people's legitimate rights. He emphasised their just struggle to reclaim their land and secure all inalienable rights. This statement was made on the 49th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day, highlighting the resilience and justice of the Palestinian cause.
Al Yamahi highlighted that this year's Land Day commemoration occurs amid severe challenges for Palestinians. He described ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing efforts targeting them, resulting in thousands of civilian deaths, including women and children. Additionally, he noted aggressive attempts to displace Gaza's population and violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The President stressed achieving peace based on UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. This approach is grounded in a two-state solution, aiming to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Al Yamahi firmly rejected any plans to displace Palestinians or annex their land.
He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament's commitment to international law and resolutions supporting Palestinians' right of return. The parliament also supports dignified living conditions for Palestinians on their land. Al Yamahi emphasised solidarity with Palestinians in defending their land, history, sanctities, and national identity.
Al Yamahi urged the international community, including the UN Security Council and regional parliaments, to fulfil their moral and legal responsibilities. He called for opposition to displacement and annexation schemes while halting violations against Palestinians. Supporting humanitarian relief efforts is crucial to enabling Palestinians to exercise their legitimate rights.
The President expressed support for Arab positions and Egypt's plan to rebuild Gaza. He stressed the urgent need for comprehensive reconstruction to ensure Palestinians remain on their land. This aligns with broader efforts to uphold international justice principles for a fair resolution to the Palestinian issue.
Commitment to Justice
Al Yamahi called on all actors to apply international justice principles for a fair resolution of the Palestinian cause. This involves ending occupation of all Palestinian territories, establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, guaranteeing return rights, and resolving refugee issues.
The Arab Parliament remains committed to supporting these goals through diplomatic channels and advocacy efforts. Al Yamahi's statement underscores a continued dedication to achieving peace and justice for Palestinians amid ongoing challenges.
