Arab Media Summit Highlights Importance Of Impact Over Numbers For Content Creators
Ali Al Saloom, an Emirati cultural expert and host of "Duroob," has urged media professionals and digital content creators to consider their motivations. He questioned whether they are driven by the pursuit of fame or the desire to create meaningful influence. This was discussed during a session titled "Impact Over Numbers: Influencing with a Small Audience" at the Arab Media Summit.
Saloom, who has visited nearly 180 destinations through his show, shared insights that have shaped his perspective on ethical content creation. He stressed that the real challenge for creators today is not artificial intelligence but personal responsibility. "AI is not the problem. Being responsible is," he stated firmly.

During his talk, Saloom outlined three guiding principles for content creators. He encouraged them to move beyond surface-level metrics and adopt a more thoughtful approach. The first principle involved reflecting on true motivations, distinguishing between fame and genuine influence. "Ask yourself why you’re chasing numbers," he said. "Is it for visibility, or to create real impact?"
The second principle focused on the responsibility that comes with having a large following. Saloom noted that influence carries weight and must be exercised with care. He emphasised that creators should be mindful of their impact on others.
The third principle highlighted the importance of upholding ethical standards in all aspects of content creation. Saloom reminded creators to respect others’ dignity, even in small moments like taking photos or recording videos.
He concluded by urging creators to communicate with the intent to connect rather than simply collect followers. "If you have a message and can add value, that’s what matters. Followers are secondary. Many of the world’s greatest scholars have few followers, but their influence is immense."
