Arab Media Embraces Technological Progress With Ethical Responsibility: Fujairah Forum Insights
Under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, the eagerly anticipated Fujairah Media Forum is set to unfold on April 25th and 26th. Themed "Parallel Media", this significant event is a collaborative effort between the Media Office of the Fujairah Government and the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) playing a crucial role as an official media partner.
The forum's supreme committee recently convened a press conference, graced by the presence of Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Diwan; Nasser Al Yamahi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority; and Jamal Adam, Director of the Fujairah Government Media Office. The conference, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, saw a significant turnout from journalists and forum organisers alike.
During his address, Al Dhanhani shed light on the transformative development within the emirate's media landscape, driven by the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi and supported by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. He underscored the emergence of "parallel media" facilitated by audiovisual technologies and stressed the imperative for official media to evolve its methodologies to serve societal development positively.
Al Dhanhani also highlighted the forum's agenda, which includes open dialogue sessions and workshops with journalists, influencers, and content creators. These discussions aim to explore future media development trajectories and the necessity for adaptation in light of technological advancements while upholding media's ethical standards and national objectives.
The forum is set to host an impressive lineup of Arab ministers of information, speakers across seven dialogue sessions, and various workshops. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to visit a media museum displaying traditional media tools alongside a smart glass room designed to simulate future media environments. This gathering underscores the critical responsibilities facing Arabs in an era marked by rapid technological evolution in publishing.
In preparation for this landmark forum, a memorandum of media cooperation was signed between WAM and the Media Office of the Fujairah Government during last November's second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC). This agreement ensures WAM's commitment to providing extensive media support for the forum through its website and social media channels. Furthermore, WAM will deploy a dedicated team of editors and photographers to comprehensively cover the event's proceedings.
The Fujairah Media Forum represents a pivotal moment for media professionals across the Arab world to converge, share insights, and chart forward-looking paths in an increasingly digital landscape. With its focus on "Parallel Media", the forum promises to be a fertile ground for discussions on leveraging modern technologies in media to foster societal progress while preserving core journalistic values.
