Arab League Condemns Israeli Crimes Against Humanity In Gaza Strip
The Arab League has condemned the crimes against humanity committed by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza since October. These actions, according to the League, violate international norms and conventions. Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and head of Media and Communication at the Arab League, highlighted these issues on World Humanitarian Day, observed annually on August 19.
Abu Ghazaleh reiterated the Arab League's support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza. Despite pressures from the occupying power to hinder its operations, she called on international parties and donor countries to provide necessary support to UNRWA. This assistance is crucial for the agency to continue its work amid ongoing challenges.

She also denounced Israel's policy of starving civilians and blocking humanitarian aid from reaching those in need in Gaza. The Arab League stressed that such actions are unacceptable under international law.
Abu Ghazaleh warned about the dire situation in Sudan, where ongoing conflict has led to a collapse of the health sector. This collapse has resulted in widespread diseases and epidemics, with around 25.6 million people facing acute hunger. The Arab League is concerned about these severe humanitarian conditions.
Floods in Yemen
Regarding Yemen, Abu Ghazaleh urged all relevant parties to cooperate with the Yemeni government. This cooperation is essential to assist those affected by recent floods and torrential rains in Al Hudaydah and Hajjah governorates. She emphasized supporting efforts to mitigate this humanitarian disaster's impact.
The Arab League’s General Secretariat aims to provide various forms of support through its specialized ministerial councils and affiliated organizations. These mechanisms are designed to alleviate difficult humanitarian conditions in member states.
Member States' Support
Abu Ghazaleh praised member states' continuous support for countries experiencing severe humanitarian crises. Their efforts help address these significant challenges effectively.
The Arab League remains committed to addressing humanitarian issues across its member states through coordinated efforts and international cooperation.
