Arab Identity Protected By Balanced Discourse, Says Global Council For Tolerance And Peace
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan used the Arab Intellectual Conference in Cairo to stress that portrayals of Arabs worldwide are central to Arab identity and wider civilisational responsibility, insisting that "it is not an intellectual luxury". Speaking as President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, Al Jarwan linked this concern to regional stability.
The gathering, held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States, was organised by the Arab Organisation for Dialogue and International Cooperation under the theme "Image of Arabs and Interculture Dialogue..Future Visions". Discussions examined global media narratives, persistent stereotypes and future scenarios, with specific attention to how young people interpret and share information.

Addressing delegates, Al Jarwan called for balanced Arab discourse that protects Arab identity, strengthens its constructive visibility internationally and rejects misleading frames. He said such communication should rest on moderation, shared human values and freedom from stereotypes, noting that optimism is deeply rooted in Arab religious and historical heritage and should reinforce confidence among young Arabs.

Al Jarwan said these aims support a stronger Arab internal front, especially for young people. He urged active Arab civil society, closer partnership with the League and sustained cultural awareness programmes. Al Jarwan added that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace is a dialogue partner in the Dialogue Among Civilizations project with the United Nations, assigned by the League. The project was adopted within an open Arab vision that believes in dialogue and rejects confrontation.
Within this context, Al Jarwan praised the League of Arab States as the unifying framework for joint Arab action at regional and international levels. Al Jarwan commended Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit for promoting dialogue, balance and defence of Arab causes in global forums, linking these efforts to improving the image of Arabs worldwide.
