Arab Hospitals Federation Awards Celebrate Healthcare Excellence And Innovation In Abu Dhabi
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has announced that 11 hospitals in the emirate have been honoured among 38 hospitals from 10 Arab countries. They received the Golden Initiative Certificate – Star of Excellence in Patient Experience award at the Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF) awards ceremony. This event was organised by AHF in collaboration with The Beryl Institute.
Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (ADHDS), a subsidiary of M42, and the DoH were awarded five prestigious accolades during the ceremony. These awards highlighted two key initiatives: the Sahatna app and Malaffi platform, both recognised for their innovation and excellence in patient care. The Sahatna app, an integrated healthcare platform, won Gold awards in Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement, as well as Innovation and Technology.

Malaffi, the first health information exchange platform in the region, received Platinum awards in Safety and Quality of Care, Continuity of Care and Transition Management, and Staff and Provider Engagement and Development. Kareem Shahin, CEO of ADHDS, stated: "These awards are a testament to our team's unwavering dedication to putting patients at the center of everything we do."
SEHA Clinics excelled by winning a Platinum Award in Safety and Quality of Care. They also received four Gold Awards in Leadership, Governance, Policy and Culture; Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement; Continuity of Care and Transition Management; and Accessibility. Al Dhafra Hospitals also performed well with four Gold awards across various categories.
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City earned Gold awards for Safety and Quality of Care; Innovation and Technology; Continuity of Care and Transition Management; Staff and Provider Engagement and Development; along with a Platinum award for Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Medical City received Silver for Safety and Quality of Care, while its Rehabilitation Hospital secured two Gold awards.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi was recognised with multiple accolades including Gold awards for Safety and Quality of Care; Communication and Information Sharing; Psychological and Emotional Support. It also received Platinum awards for Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement; Innovation and Technology; Staff and Provider Engagement.
Regional Recognition
Aman Healthcare (Abu Dhabi) achieved a Platinum award for Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement. Salma Rehabilitation Hospital earned a Gold award in this category too. Alice Yammine Boueiz, CEO of AHF, remarked: "Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector stands as a pioneering model... We work to transferring these experiences... to foster a culture of quality."
The Catheterisation Laboratory at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City won Silver in Staff Engagement. Tawam Hospital earned Silver for Safety & Quality of Care plus Gold for Staff Engagement. Dr Jason Wolf from The Beryl Institute said: "Our commitment to patient experience goes far beyond survey results or satisfaction levels."
Dr Noura Al Ghaithi from DoH expressed pride in these achievements which highlight Abu Dhabi’s leadership in enhancing patient experience globally. She stated: "We remain steadfast in pursuing our vision... We congratulate the winning facilities... extend our appreciation to our partners at the Arab Hospitals Federation."
