Arab European Cities Dialogue Highlights Climate Challenges And Urban Resilience Strategies
The Arab European Cities Dialogue resumed in Riyadh with a focus on climate adaptation and mitigation. The session, titled "Towards Resilience: Climate Adaptation and Mitigation in Arab and European Cities," featured mayors from Baghdad, Tangier, Cologne, and Turku. They discussed strategic planning and innovative financing to tackle climate challenges.
Participants highlighted the urgent need for cities to adopt flexible strategies to combat climate change. They pointed out that issues like water scarcity, rising temperatures, flood risks, and carbon emissions are shared concerns for both Arab and European cities. Strengthening partnerships is crucial in addressing these challenges effectively.

The dialogue emphasised that urban resilience is essential rather than optional. Participants agreed that integrated efforts among cities are vital for developing solutions that cross borders.
