Arab Code Week 2024 Launched To Boost Programming Skills Among Arab Youth

In a significant move towards inclusivity and technological advancement in the Arab world, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAA) has partnered with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives to kick off the fourth annual Arab Code Week. This initiative, which commenced on Wednesday and will continue until May 7, is conducted via Zoom. It targets children and young people aged 6 to 18 with disabilities, aiming to equip them with essential programming skills, command engineering principles, and the know-how to apply artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the Arabic language.

The program is designed as an interactive educational environment, fostering an engaging learning experience for participants. It underscores the critical role of programming in today's digital era and seeks to empower the youth by making technology accessible to all, regardless of physical abilities. Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of KSGAA, emphasized the academy's commitment to reinforcing its strategic role in projects and initiatives that promote the Arabic language. Moreover, he highlighted that one of the academy's strategic objectives is to advance AI techniques for the automatic processing of the Arabic language on both local and global scales.

Boosting Youth's Programming Skills

This collaboration not only showcases a concerted effort to integrate technology into education but also reflects a broader vision to support linguistic development through modern tools. By focusing on children and young people with disabilities, the initiative ensures that no one is left behind in the journey towards digital literacy. The use of AI applications in service of the Arabic language opens new avenues for innovation and accessibility, making it an essential step towards embracing technology in educational practices.

As this year's Arab Code Week progresses, participants will have the opportunity to delve into the basics of programming—a skill that is becoming increasingly vital in various sectors. The initiative also sets a precedent for future endeavors aimed at merging technology with education, particularly in enhancing language skills and making learning more inclusive. Through such programs, KSGAA and its partners are not only contributing to the technological empowerment of young Arabs but are also laying down a foundation for a future where technology and language education go hand in hand.

The collaborative effort between KSGAA, ALECSO, and the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives exemplifies a strategic approach towards leveraging technology for educational purposes. As these organizations continue to work together, their initiatives are poised to make significant impacts on the Arabic-speaking community, especially among the younger generation. The focus on AI and programming within this context not only prepares participants for future challenges but also ensures that the Arabic language remains relevant in an increasingly digital world.
