AQU Launches Quran Memorisation Schools Across Uganda, Kenya, And Comoros To Foster Education
Professor Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University (AQU), recently inaugurated several Quran memorisation schools in Uganda, Kenya, and the Comoros. This initiative follows directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to establish such schools across Africa.
In the Comoros capital, Moroni, the "Rifqa Knowledge School" was opened. The school is named after Rifqa Yousef, a former student of Al Qasimia University. The event was attended by Juma Rashid Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to the Comoros, along with senior local officials. The school will offer Quran memorisation sessions and feature a library stocked with publications from the Kalimat Foundation in Sharjah.

President Osman Ghazali of Comoros met with the AQU delegation during their visit. He praised the UAE's support and expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his contributions to development and education in Comoros. He acknowledged the charitable and humanitarian initiatives led by Sheikh Sultan.
In Nairobi, Kenya's capital, Professor Al Turaifi inaugurated another Quran Memorisation School. During his visit, he met with Dr. Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, UAE Ambassador to Kenya and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Nairobi. He also engaged with several AQU graduates who appreciated the university's role in enhancing their academic and intellectual skills.
The graduates affirmed their commitment to promoting moderation within their communities. In Uganda's capital, Kampala, more Quran memorisation schools were inaugurated by Professor Al Turaifi. He interacted with AQU alumni who shared their educational achievements and community service experiences.
The values instilled by AQU have guided these graduates in their professional lives. These initiatives reflect AQU's dedication to spreading Islamic knowledge and human values while fostering cultural communication among different peoples.
AQU's Mission
The university aims to promote harmony and understanding between diverse cultures through these efforts. Accompanying Professor Al Turaifi on this tour were Dr. Zakaria Nouh, Director of International Relations and Student Recruitment at AQU, and Professor Omar Al Ali, Head of the University's Passports Department.
