Apple Original Films' 'F1' Wraps Production Featuring Brad Pitt At Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Apple Original Films has completed filming its eagerly awaited movie "F1" at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marking the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season. This film, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, is a collaboration with the Creative Media Authority and Abu Dhabi Film Commission. It will be released in theatres globally and in IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures on 27th June 2025 in North America and internationally from 25th June 2025.

The film features Brad Pitt as a former driver returning to Formula 1, with Damson Idris playing his teammate at the fictional team APXGP. The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. Filming took place during actual Grand Prix weekends worldwide, immersing viewers in the thrilling world of motorsport.

'F1' Film Wraps Production in Abu Dhabi

Directed by Kosinski, known for "Top Gun: Maverick," "F1" is produced by several notable figures including Sir Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner, Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment, and Kosinski for Monolith Pictures. Ehren Kruger wrote the screenplay.

Abu Dhabi's Role in Production

The production involved 29 days of filming in Abu Dhabi at Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub. A local crew of 284 supported the international team alongside Epic Films and young local interns. The Abu Dhabi Film Commission's rebate scheme facilitated this major production.

Mohamed Dobay from Abu Dhabi’s Creative Media Authority expressed excitement about partnering with Apple Original Films. He highlighted how their efforts have attracted international interest during the third shoot in Abu Dhabi. Dobay looks forward to showcasing iconic locations on screen while continuing collaborations with Apple Original Films.

Sameer Al Jaberi of Abu Dhabi Film Commission shared enthusiasm about supporting this extensive production program. He noted that more than 284 local crew members participated alongside Emirati talent on screen. Additionally, five Emirati youth were among those gaining work experience as part of nurturing local creative industry talent.

The film was made with input from Formula 1 Management, all ten teams, F1 drivers, and FIA officials. Since introducing its rebate scheme in 2013, the Abu Dhabi Film Commission has supported over 170 major productions like "F1." This collaboration underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to fostering a safe environment for global production teams while showcasing its unique locations worldwide.
