AURAK's Inaugural TEDx Event Explores Global Impact Through Diverse Perspectives

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) recently hosted its first TEDx event, featuring seven distinguished speakers from various fields. They shared insights on crucial global issues such as Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship. The event, titled ‘Impact Matters—Voices for a New Era,’ focused on how individuals and innovations can drive significant change in the world. The speakers presented ideas that challenge norms and inspire action.

Dr. David A. Schmidt, President of AURAK, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success. He stated, "This inaugural TEDx event reflects the completion of our strategic vision to add this prestigious activity to our campus. We believe TEDx is a perfect event to add to our students' academic progress and support their critical thinking." Prof. Stephen Wilhite, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success and Provost at AURAK, praised the speakers for providing 'invaluable ideas to ponder and pursue,' especially those with emotional impact.

The impressive roster included Cherian Varghese from Oracle; Julie Lewis, an explorer and author; Rohit Bassi, a self-development expert; Debbie Botha from Harvard's Digital Data Design Institute; Belinda Scot from Gulf International Bank; Danyaal Abdul Khaliq, formerly with e& (Etisalat); and Chada El Islam Benmahcene of ENTROGX Ventures. Each speaker brought unique perspectives on how their fields contribute to global progress.
