Ambassadors' Retreat Focuses On Partnerships For Future Government Strategies
The World Governments Summit Organisation (WGSO), in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted the 'Ambassadors' Retreat,' welcoming over 100 ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads in the UAE. This event aimed to share best practices to enhance international cooperation for future government development. The initiative aligns with WGS's goal to foster collaboration and open dialogues addressing global developments and innovative solutions.
Prominent figures such as Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and WGSO Chairman; Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future; and Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications attended the Retreat. UAE government leaders, ambassadors, and diplomatic mission representatives also participated.

During the event, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi highlighted that the WGS is a significant global platform transcending political differences. It brings together governments, entrepreneurs, experts, and specialists for open dialogue focused on collaboration to shape a better future for societies and upcoming generations.
Al Gergawi stated, "The World Governments Summit embodies the visions and directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to build bridges of communication between countries with the aim of achieving common goals. It further translates the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to promote constructive cooperation and partnerships, enhancing dialogue channels and global communication to shape the future of governments for the good of all societies worldwide."
Omar Sultan Al Olama emphasised key milestones contributing to WGS's success. He noted that in 2012, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum envisioned a global platform for shaping future governments. He urged governments to convene and develop proactive solutions addressing humanity's critical challenges.
Global Impact
Since its inception, WGS has become a hub for knowledge sharing among governments. It focuses on harnessing innovation and technology to tackle global challenges. The summit has hosted over 42,000 participants from more than 140 countries, including over 70 heads of state and government and more than 2,400 speakers. Participants have engaged in over 1,800 interactive seminars and workshops.
"The previous edition of the WGS focused on developing strategic partnerships among governments, international organisations, and private sector innovators," said Al Olama. Over 790 speakers participated in sessions covering AI's future, emerging economies, and global finance. Additionally, there were 15 forums, 21 high-level roundtables, 14 side events organised.
Upcoming Summit Highlights
The WGSO team presented key highlights for the upcoming WGS scheduled for February 2025. They engaged participants in discussions enriching the global agenda for government priorities and emerging trends. The next edition will discuss themes like effective governance, finance and economics, crisis management, capacity building, health readiness challenges.
The event will feature over 110 sessions with more than 200 speakers. There will be representatives from international organisations along with over 6,000 participants. Additionally, it will launch 30 strategic reports focusing on various global trends.
Interactive Roundtable Discussions
The Ambassadors' Retreat included an interactive roundtable where ambassadors shared their thoughts on enhancing international cooperation to shape future governance ecosystems. The roundtable featured three discussion sessions aiming at exploring innovative solutions for future challenges.
Topics discussed included technology's role in future city architecture and accelerating private sector impact through government collaboration. These discussions aimed at exchanging ideas on diplomatic strategies shaping the global future.
The Ambassadors' Retreat is an annual initiative by WGSO as part of its mission to stimulate partnerships supporting efforts to shape the future. Through its initiatives focusing on major global trends involving stakeholders across various sectors in shaping directions connected to human life.
