Riyadh Hosts Amateur Football Championship With 32 Teams And 300 Competitors
The Hawi Football Championship commenced today in the Riyadh region and will continue until June 13. This event features 32 teams and over 300 players, including members of the Hawi app. Enad bin Saad Al-Nafi'i, Marketing and Communication Officer at the National Portal for Hobbies (Hawi), highlighted that this second launch in Riyadh follows the successful Ramadan amateur championships held in Jeddah and Riyadh.
Al-Nafi'i explained that the championship aims to boost participation in sports hobbies, empower enthusiasts, and encourage future involvement in amateur championships and competitions. The tournament follows a "knockout" format, with the first-place winner receiving 10,000 riyals and the second-place winner receiving 5,000 riyals.

The championship targets clubs registered in the Hawi app, sports enthusiasts, and clubs not yet registered. Al-Nafi'i noted that the event seeks to increase engagement in sports hobbies and enable individuals to practice their favourite activities through the application. Additionally, it aims to grow the number of members and clubs in "Hawi," foster community participation, and enhance communication between hobby clubs.
The hobby sector in Saudi Arabia has seen significant growth since responsibilities were assigned to the Quality-of-Life Program Center. This centre, along with 12 government bodies, established Hawi as the umbrella organization for the hobby sector. The Hawi portal supports amateur hobbyists of all genders in various activities and continuously raises awareness about the importance of practicing hobbies.
