AlUla Tour 2025 Press Conference Unveils Exciting Plans For Cycling Event
The AlUla Tour 2025, a major cycling event in Saudi Arabia, is set to occur from January 28 to February 1. Organised by the Saudi Cycling Federation alongside the Amaury Sport Organisation and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), it will be overseen by the Ministry of Sport. A press conference at AlFursan Equestrian Village in AlUla highlighted its significance.
Saudi Cycling Federation President Abdulaziz Al-Shahrani described the AlUla Tour as a pivotal sports event for the Kingdom. He noted that it inspires national competition at top levels. The federation aims to promote cycling across all societal segments, fostering a culture of participation and development in this sport.

RCU Chief Sports Officer Ziad Alsuhaibani remarked on the tour's role in showcasing AlUla's historical sites and varied landscapes. The cycling track has been extended from 45 to 68 kilometres, with plans for further expansion. Future initiatives will focus on school involvement and children's races to nurture young Saudi cyclists.
Dutch cyclist Dylan Groenewegen, representing Team Jayco AlUla, commented on the competitive nature of the tour. He highlighted AlUla's distinct terrain and natural beauty compared to other global locations. Groenewegen mentioned that sand and wind conditions would influence the race, expressing hope for a strong performance.
Ali Al-Sheikh, head of the Saudi national team, stressed that competitors aim to display Saudi cycling prowess. He acknowledged substantial support from all parties involved, which has been crucial for their participation in this international event. This backing underscores the commitment to developing cycling talent within the Kingdom.
The RCU is committed to expanding cycling opportunities in Saudi Arabia. Plans include partnerships aimed at increasing school participation and organising children's races.
