AlUla Royal Commission Initiates Women's Football Project To Enhance Coaching Opportunities

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has initiated a project to promote women's football in the region. This initiative aims to offer diverse sporting opportunities for female coaches. Collaborating with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, AlUla Club, the RCU sports sector, and the French Agency for AlUla Development, this effort underscores the commission's dedication to enhancing sports as a means to improve community well-being.

Participants in this program include physical education teachers, students from Taibah University, and sports enthusiasts. They will engage in workshops and awareness sessions designed to provide insights into fitness, coaching techniques, and sports education. The program began with an introductory workshop conducted with the French Agency for AlUla Development. Here, participants learned basic coaching techniques tailored specifically for women's football.

The second workshop took place from December 8 to 11 under the organisation of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. During this session, participants earned a "D" football coaching license. This certification enables them to pursue further qualifications and enhances their coaching skills. A subsequent guidance workshop is scheduled at a training camp in Madinah from January 3 to 5.

At this training camp, participants will receive practical coaching advice aimed at refining their skills in organising training sessions. Upon completing the program, several participants will be invited by the club to work as community football coaches. This opportunity will help promote sports culture and improve quality of life by training players and nurturing new talent.

Plans are underway to integrate more trainees into the 2025 Girls' Schools League. Additionally, there are plans to host more workshops focusing on various sports disciplines to broaden their expertise. These efforts align with RCU's commitment to advancing sports within the community.

The initial workshop focused on developing essential skills and knowledge specific to women's football coaching. Participants were introduced to basic techniques that are crucial for effective coaching in this field.

This initiative not only aims at improving women's participation in football but also seeks to foster a healthier community through sports engagement. By providing these opportunities, RCU is paving the way for a new generation of female coaches who can contribute significantly to local sports development.
