Ali Al Nuaimi Engages With European Parliament Chair To Enhance UAE-EU Relations
Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, who chairs the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs in the Federal National Council (FNC), recently met with Pasquale Tridico from the European Parliament. Tridico also leads the Subcommittee on Tax Matters (FISC). This meeting was part of an official visit to enhance parliamentary ties between the UAE and the EU.
The gathering included several FNC members, Mohamed Al Sahlawi, the UAE Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the EU, along with ambassadors from various EU countries accredited to the UAE. Discussions focused on potential joint cooperation and sharing expertise in legislative and economic areas.

Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised using parliamentary diplomacy as a means for constructive dialogue. He highlighted its role in addressing regional and global issues of mutual interest. The ongoing progress in relations between the FNC and European Parliament was praised, especially given today's global challenges that require deeper collaboration.
He underscored the need for developing institutional parliamentary ties further. This includes aligning viewpoints on international matters to build effective partnerships between the UAE and EU. Dr. Al Nuaimi also showcased how the UAE's legislative framework supports sustainable development by fostering investment and economic growth.
The launch of negotiations for a comprehensive economic agreement between the UAE and EU in April marks a strategic milestone. This agreement aims to expand cooperation, particularly in economic and trade sectors. Dr. Al Nuaimi noted this as a significant step forward in strengthening ties.
Pasquale Tridico expressed admiration for the UAE’s advancements in economic and legislative fields. He praised its business environment and transparency as exemplary for the region. Tridico highlighted the European Parliament’s eagerness to enhance cooperation frameworks with the FNC to support political dialogue and economic collaboration.
