Estonian Skater Aleksandr Selevko Captures Gold At Abu Dhabi Classic Trophy 2024

The Abu Dhabi Classic Trophy Figure Skating 2024 concluded on a high note yesterday, marking a significant achievement in the world of figure skating. The competition, which took place from 15th to 18th February, saw Aleksandr Selevko from Estonia clinching first place in the professional category. This event, now in its second edition, has not only showcased exceptional talent but also reinforced Abu Dhabi's position as a premier destination for sports and tourism.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club and backed by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council along with the UAE Winter Sports Federation, the competition attracted 105 male and female skaters from 15 countries. The final day was highlighted by a festive Gala featuring top-ranked skaters, including Selevko, who is currently ranked 21st in the world.

Hamad Obaid Alsheryani, the Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success. He emphasized how the Abu Dhabi Classic Trophy Figure Skating 2024 has enhanced the emirate's reputation as a leading hub for sports and tourism. The event drew global winners and competitors from across 15 nations, showcasing the international appeal of this competition.

The awards ceremony saw prominent figures such as Hamel Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Vice President of the UAE Winter Sports Federation, and Hamad Obaid Alsheryani presenting medals to the winners. Alongside Selevko's triumph in the men's category, Nataly Langerbaur from Estonia emerged victorious in the professional female category. Runners-up included Simon Danielianc from Lithuania and Nawaka Ma from Hong Kong, highlighting the diverse talent present at this year's competition.

This year's edition of the Abu Dhabi Classic Trophy Figure Skating has once again demonstrated the UAE's commitment to promoting winter sports and providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills on an international stage.
