ALECGS Participates In 14th Board Of Trustees Meeting To Enhance Arabic Language Education In Oman

The Arabic Language Educational Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS), under the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), recently participated in the 14th Board of Trustees meeting in Muscat. This session, part of the 2025–2026 agenda, was led by Sulaiman bin Hamoud Al Harrasi, Advisor to Oman's Minister of Education and current Chair of the Board. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Oman's Minister of Education, along with representatives from ABEGS member states, also attended.

During this gathering, ALECGS showcased its accomplishments for the 2023–2024 period. These included ten accredited programmes, six scientific studies, nine conference papers, two hosted conferences, and participation in twelve international conferences and eight book fairs across Arab cities. The Centre also conducted nine seminars and participated in eight others, alongside ten training courses focused on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.

ALECGS Attends Board Meeting in Oman

The meeting served as a crucial platform for reviewing ALECGS's efforts in promoting Arabic language education throughout the Gulf region. Dr Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS, expressed gratitude to Oman’s Ministry of Education for their generous hosting and support. He praised the spirit of cooperation among Gulf states and their shared educational vision.

ALECGS introduced new initiatives for 2025 aimed at enhancing early childhood literacy through digital children's literature. They also plan to improve Arabic language instruction for upper grades using artificial intelligence and develop a curriculum framework based on digital citizenship. Additionally, linguistic competitions and themed meetings were organised to support these goals.

Delegates visited significant institutions in Oman during their stay. At the Specialised Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers, they explored best practices in developing teaching competencies. Visits also included cultural sites like the Royal Opera House and historical landmarks in Muscat, emphasising educational and cultural exchange integration.

The board praised Oman’s efforts in ensuring the meeting's success and reaffirmed their support for ALECGS initiatives. Representatives highlighted the importance of collaborative educational strategies to build a unified linguistic and educational future for the Gulf region.
