Aldar Joins Forces With Siemens For Saadiyat Grove's Smart Urban Transformation
Aldar Properties (Aldar) has embarked on a strategic partnership with Siemens to elevate Saadiyat Grove, an ambitious mixed-use development located in Abu Dhabi's cultural epicenter, into a leading example of smart urban living on a global scale. This collaboration was formalized at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in the project's development.
At the heart of this initiative is the deployment of the UAE’s first cloud-based smart district management system, powered by Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and its Building X platform. This system is set to revolutionize the Saadiyat Grove community, representing a major global investment in smart technology within a mixed-use residential and commercial real estate development.

The innovative system will incorporate advanced energy analytics aimed at reducing emissions, aligning with Aldar’s Net Zero Plan. It promises a more personalized living experience for residents, focusing on their wellbeing. The integration of IoT sensors will ensure constant monitoring of air quality and noise levels, while AI technologies will enhance safety, security, and predictive maintenance. Additionally, the system will oversee asset lifecycles and include digital twins of the district to boost operational efficiencies.
This AI-powered analysis system is designed to streamline asset management, guaranteeing high living standards for residents and optimal performance for commercial tenants at Saadiyat Grove. Moreover, these solutions will be scalable across Aldar’s portfolio, ensuring uniform quality and operational standards, centralized monitoring, and secure data management across both new and existing developments.
Jonathan Emery, Chief Executive Officer at Aldar Development, highlighted the significance of introducing the UAE’s first cloud-based district management solution at Saadiyat Grove. He emphasized that this move aligns with Aldar’s commitment to leveraging innovation for sustainable living solutions that significantly reduce emissions. "Implementing this advanced smart district management system at Saadiyat Grove establishes a benchmark for smart living in Abu Dhabi," Emery stated.
Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the Middle East and the UAE, expressed honor in collaborating with Aldar on this pioneering project. He noted that Siemens Xcelerator would enable Aldar to manage its portfolio more efficiently and enhance the living and working environment for the district’s residents and visitors.
Located in Abu Dhabi’s Cultural District, Saadiyat Grove is poised to become a model for future smart and sustainable developments both in the UAE and internationally. The project will feature a business park with approximately 26,000 sqm of net leasable area (NLA) across four Grade A commercial office buildings. The retail component of Saadiyat Grove will cover 78,000 sqm of NLA, offering community retail spaces, two retail boulevards, and a central shopping destination with new experiential retail, dining, and entertainment concepts for Abu Dhabi.
