Albudaiwi Praises International Coalition For Two-State Solution To Support Palestinian Rights And Peace

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has expressed optimism about the launch of the International Coalition for a Two-State Solution. He believes this initiative could help Palestinians achieve their rightful statehood and live peacefully. Albudaiwi shared these thoughts during a ministerial meeting on "The Situation in Gaza and Implementing the Two-State Solution as a Path to Just Peace," organised by several international bodies.

Albudaiwi highlighted that this event occurs during a critical period, as Gaza faces one of its worst humanitarian crises. He stressed the GCC's dedication to supporting efforts aimed at easing the suffering of Palestinians. Albudaiwi urged the global community to take decisive action against ongoing crimes by Israeli forces in Gaza, which have led to severe shortages and loss of life, predominantly affecting women and children.

Albudaiwi Supports Two-State Solution for Palestinians

"These actions represent a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, and those responsible for these violations must be held accountable," he stated. The Secretary General also praised the ministerial committee from an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit for its diplomatic efforts to secure international backing for a ceasefire and end Israeli aggression in Gaza.

Albudaiwi expressed gratitude to nations recognising Palestine, urging others to follow suit to support Palestinian self-determination. He reiterated the GCC's call for an international conference involving all relevant parties to end occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state within 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He emphasised that this solution is crucial for peace between Palestinians and Israelis. Albudaiwi pointed out that continued Israeli settlement expansion and violations of Islamic holy sites, especially Al Aqsa Mosque, increase regional tensions. "These practices not only threaten the prospects for peace but also constitute violations of international law," he noted.

Path Towards Lasting Peace

The Secretary General asserted that such actions complicate achieving a two-state solution, which remains the only viable path for lasting peace. He concluded by stating that it's time for words to become actions, urging the international community to provide immediate relief to Gaza while ensuring just peace.

"The GCC stands ready to cooperate with all parties to achieve these goals," he concluded. This statement underscores the GCC's commitment to working towards peace and stability in the region through collaborative efforts with global partners.
