Alat And Lenovo Break Ground On New $2 Billion Manufacturing Facility In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Alat, a company aiming to revolutionise global industries by establishing a premier manufacturing hub in Saudi Arabia, has partnered with Lenovo, a leading technology firm. They recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a new manufacturing facility in Riyadh. This factory will be built on a 200,000 sqm site at "Riyadh Integrated," managed by the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ), and will produce "Saudi Made" laptops, desktops, and servers.

The factory is designed with sustainability in mind and is expected to start production in 2026. It will be located just 15 minutes from Riyadh's international airport within SILZ. This development follows the completion of a US$2 billion investment through three-year zero-coupon convertible bonds, alongside a strategic collaboration agreement announced in May 2024.

New Manufacturing Facility by Alat and Lenovo

This partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and PIF’s strategy, significantly contributing to the Kingdom's economic objectives. It is anticipated to generate up to 15,000 direct jobs and 45,000 indirect jobs, fostering sustainable growth and national development. By 2030, it aims to add up to $10 billion to the non-oil GDP.

Lenovo plans to establish its regional Middle East and Africa headquarters in Riyadh as part of this collaboration. This move is one of Alat's numerous planned investments by 2030 aimed at enhancing the technological sector's capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

Alat is committed to empowering the private sector and improving the commercial environment through its business systems and partnerships with leading international technology manufacturers. The company is innovating across nine business units: semiconductors, smart devices, smart buildings, smart appliances, smart health, electrification, advanced industrials, next-generation infrastructure, and AI.

The company plans to manufacture products across 34 categories within these nine business units. This initiative capitalises on the rapid growth of Saudi Arabia's technological sector.

As Alat continues its journey towards creating world-class manufacturing capabilities in Saudi Arabia, this partnership with Lenovo marks a significant step forward. The collaboration not only supports local economic goals but also positions Saudi Arabia as a key player in global technology manufacturing.
