Al Wahda Club Takes Lead On Day One Of Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup Final Round

Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club emerged as the frontrunner on the first day of the final round of the Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup, held at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. The event attracted a lively crowd eager to see which club would be crowned the UAE's best. Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club and Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club followed closely in second and third places, respectively.

The championship featured intense competitions in the over-18 division, showcasing athletes' physical and technical prowess. Al Wahda Club Leads Jiu-Jitsu Cup Day One

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasised the importance of this stage for both athletes and clubs. "The first day of the final round is an important stage for both athletes and clubs. It provides a real test of their technical and mental abilities before tomorrow’s decisive matches," he stated. He noted that the competition level reflects how much clubs have advanced in preparation and tactics.

Raphael Veiga, head coach of Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club, shared insights into their strategy. "We’re competing with around 20 athletes, and our preparation for the final round has been very strong, with a big focus on the technical and physical details that matter in knockout stages," he said. The team entered with determination and awareness of this round's significance.

Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club's athlete Abdulrahman Abdulhaq (under-62kg) described the matches as intense yet rewarding. "The matches were intense and fast, but we prepared well for this moment and managed to apply most of what we trained for in recent weeks," he explained. He expressed confidence in their ability to compete until the end.

The federation's efforts to enhance technical and administrative systems were evident through strong competition levels. Athletes demonstrated top-tier skills, reflecting these improvements. The anticipation builds for an exciting final day with matches that underscore this championship's value.

Veiga expressed confidence in his team's readiness to face any challenge as they aim for victory. "We know the competition is tough, but today’s performance shows we are ready to go deep in the championship," he remarked. They plan to leverage today's results to boost morale ahead of upcoming matches.
