Al Wahda And Baniyas Clinch Spots In Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup Finals

Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club have successfully advanced to the finals of the Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup, following an impressive showing in the elimination rounds. The finals are eagerly awaited and will be held on Saturday, 16th March, at the prestigious Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. This event marks a significant moment for both clubs as they compete in the male and female divisions.

The competition also sets the stage for Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club and M.O.D Academy, who will vie for third place in the men's category. Notably, Al Ain has already secured third place in the women's division. Reflecting on the previous championship, Baniyas emerged victorious in both divisions, with Al Ain and Al Wahda taking second place in the men's and women's categories, respectively.

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the high level of competition observed during Friday’s elimination rounds. He emphasized the President’s Cup as a cornerstone event for local clubs, playing a crucial role in developing athletes for major international competitions. Now in its eighth edition, the championship continues to be a focal point for jiu-jitsu enthusiasts nationwide.

Obaid Meftah, Chairman of Al Wahda Sports Group Company, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance and optimism for securing first place in both divisions. The club’s strategy to maximize athlete participation has been fruitful, showcasing their preparation and determination.

Abdullah Al Shamsi, Administrator of Baniyas Club, attributed their success to the unwavering support from H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan. With confidence high, Baniyas aims to repeat their success story and clinch first place once again.

Marina Ribeiro, coach of Baniyas, hinted at a strategic approach designed to surprise their opponents and enhance their chances of victory. This strategy is expected to give Baniyas a competitive edge in retaining their title.

Highlighting individual performances, Asma Alhosani of Baniyas showcased exceptional skill by securing a submission victory over Sabha Taleb Almemari of Al Ain within just 01:16 minutes. Alhosani’s focus on amassing maximum points from the outset underscores Baniyas’ ambition for continued dominance.

Saeed Al Kubaisi of Al Wahda also delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Khalid Alamro of M.O.D Academy by points.
