Al Maktoum Bridge Closure: Explore Alternative Routes And Travel Tips In Dubai

If your daily route of commute includes crossing the Al Maktoum Bridge in Dubai, it is now time for a change in the travel itinerary. RTA explained that starting from now, the bridge will be partially closed for maintenance until January 16, 2025. The partial closures are nightly, from Monday to Saturday between 11 pm and 5 am, while full closure will take place on Sundays for 24 hours. For this reason, here is a hint about the best diversions that drivers may consider to cross from Deira into Bur Dubai.

Alternative Routes from Deira to Bur Dubai

Alternative Routes During Al Maktoum Bridge Closure

1. Al Shindagha Tunnel: This presents an easy link through Baniyas Road and Al Khaleej Street, opening into Bur Dubai without the congestion of the main thoroughfares.
2. Infinity Bridge: Take the Infinity Bridge for a detour in scenic views, via Baniyas Road, Al Khaleej Street, and Corniche Street. This modern bridge has a smooth drive with great views over Dubai Creek.
3. Business Bay Crossing Bridge: It is approached via Baniyas Road, Sheikh Rashid Road, and Rebat Street. This crossing is useful for those heading toward the Business Bay area, heading further into central Dubai.
4. Al Garhoud Bridge: The Al Garhoud Bridge is another option, taking Baniyas Road and Sheikh Rashid Road. Of the several crossings in Dubai, it is one of the main ones; it handles the traffic pretty well.

Alternative routes from Bur Dubai to Deira

1. Al Garhoud Bridge: towards Deira via Oud Metha Road and Sheikh Rashid Road; this route offers a fairly direct route across the creek with no major diversions.
2. Al Shindagha Tunnel or Infinity Bridge: The crossing can be approached via Tariq Bin Ziyad Road, Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, and Al Khaleej Street for both options. Both options provide for easy access and help avoid potential snarls near Al Maktoum Bridge.
3. Business Bay Crossing Bridge: Ideal for those coming from central Dubai, head down Oud Metha Road and Al Khail Road to get to the Business Bay Crossing. This keeps you on major highways, making your travel time shorter.

RTA called on all motorists to plan their routes in advance and work out alternative routes to avert any delays by conducting a smooth journey during the period of closure. Motorists are encouraged to use navigation apps, access real-time information on traffic status, and consider adjusting travel times during the period, especially Sunday when the bridge is closed all day. The temporary closure of Al Maktoum Bridge will be needed to ensure the continued safety and long-term durability of the structure, and your patience during this period is appreciated.
With these routes, one can easily work his/her way around the city with ease and resume commuting without much nuisance.
