Al Madinah Development Authority Represents Saudi Arabia At UN Forum On Sustainable Development

Al Madinah Region Development Authority is actively participating in the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York City. This event, taking place from July 14 to 23, focuses on "Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind." The forum gathers UN member states to evaluate global progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set for 2030.

The Kingdom's delegation to the HLPF is led by Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim. This participation underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to integrating Saudi Vision 2030 with the global SDG framework. It also highlights Madinah's pioneering role in adopting the global Quality of Life Index initiative early on. Eng. Fahad bin Mohammed Albulihshi, Mayor of Madinah Region and CEO of the Madinah Region Development Authority, will represent the Kingdom at the Local and Regional Governments Forum during HLPF.

Eng. Fahad bin Mohammed Albulihshi will deliver a speech emphasizing Madinah’s leadership in localizing SDGs. His address will also reaffirm Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing SDG localization at a local level, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. On the sidelines of this forum, he plans to engage in bilateral meetings with representatives from local and regional governments.

These discussions aim to explore potential cooperation opportunities for advancing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Key topics include governance roles, inclusive services, and local investment strategies that can drive regional SDG progress. These dialogues are crucial for fostering collaboration among different governmental levels.

The authority has recently issued two significant reports: "Atlas of Sustainable Development in Al Madinah City Neighborhoods" and "Al Madinah City Resilience Report." These documents provide a balanced analysis based on evidence regarding sustainable development within the region. They serve as valuable resources for understanding how sustainable practices are being implemented locally.

The reports highlight various aspects of sustainable development efforts in Al Madinah City neighborhoods. By offering detailed insights into these initiatives, they contribute to informed decision-making processes aimed at enhancing sustainability across different sectors within the region.
