Over 200,000 Travellers Facilitated By Al Madam Border Point In Sharjah During H1 2024

The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points in Sharjah has revealed that Al Madam border point saw approximately 202,740 travellers cross in the first half of 2024. This figure highlights the efficiency and readiness of Sharjah’s border crossings to handle a continuous flow of inbound and outbound travellers.

This announcement was made during the eighth periodic meeting for 2024, held at Al Madam Municipality Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs and Chairman of the Committee. Attendees included Lieutenant Colonel Walid Mohammed Al Nehm from Sharjah Police, Lieutenant Colonel Imran Al Shamsi from Khatm Milaha Border Point’s Passport Control Center, and Colonel Mohammed Al Afari from the National Guard Command.

Al Madam Aids 200K+ Travellers in H1 '24

Representatives from Sharjah Customs, the Federal Customs Authority, the General Directorate for Port Security, and the UAE’s State Security Department (SSD) were also present. The key agenda items focused on enhancing operational mechanisms to improve performance across all border points in Sharjah.

The Committee reviewed the progress of development projects at Al Madam border point to ensure seamless services for travellers. Operating entities presented detailed action plans outlining their roles, tasks, and responsibilities for the upcoming period. These plans are part of a broader strategy to elevate service quality to international standards.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi emphasised that these meetings demonstrate the Committee's commitment to optimising Sharjah's border points' efficiency. He stated that their goal is to advance operational processes and enhance service quality through collaboration with relevant authorities.

Future Enhancements at Al Madam Border Point

Al Raisi noted that significant improvements are planned for Al Madam border point's services through partnerships with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. These efforts aim to ensure smooth traveller experiences and efficient passenger traffic management.

The eighth meeting approved a strategic plan divided into two phases for developing Al Madam border point. This aligns with broader goals to enhance infrastructure and classification of border points, ensuring seamless services for travellers and facilitating trade.

The Committee's focus includes boosting trade facilitation by improving goods flow through these border points. Enhancing operational strategies and key performance indicators were also discussed during the meeting.

In summary, these initiatives aim to promote services that enhance the role of Sharjah’s border crossings in managing traveller influx efficiently around the clock.
