Al Jalila Foundation Secures AED 50 Million Donation For Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital Development
Al Jalila Foundation, part of Dubai Health, has received a significant AED50 million donation from the Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman Endowment in Kuwait. This generous contribution will aid in building the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, Dubai’s first fully integrated cancer care facility. The donation was formalised at a ceremony attended by Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, and trustees Yousef Eissa Al Othman, Nabil Eissa Al Othman, and Abdulla Eissa Al Othman.
The hospital will cover 56,000 square metres and is expected to serve approximately 30,000 patients each year. It aims to provide comprehensive cancer treatment under one roof. During their visit, the delegation toured various Dubai Health facilities and learned about key research initiatives like the Biobank and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Medical Research Institute.

Faisal Eissa Al Othman, representing the Endowment, expressed pride in collaborating with Al Jalila Foundation on this humanitarian project. He stated that the hospital honours Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's legacy by providing essential cancer care. "We are proud to collaborate with Al Jalila Foundation on this humanitarian initiative, which honours the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This hospital will provide essential, specialised care for cancer patients, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment and support."
The intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital will be named ‘Critical Care Unit-Supported By Waqf Eissa Abdullah Al Othman and Waqf Tiba Abdullwahab Al Othman - Kuwait’ in recognition of this generous donation. The naming acknowledges their commitment to supporting healthcare advancements.
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni highlighted Dubai's culture of sustainable giving and strategic partnerships both locally and internationally. "Dubai has built a strong culture of sustainable giving, fostering strategic partnerships locally and internationally. This generous contribution reflects a deep commitment to philanthropy and healthcare advancement, reinforcing the values of compassion and solidarity that define our society." He emphasised how such donations are crucial for humanitarian efforts that transform lives.
Faisal Eissa Al Othman further noted that their donation continues the philanthropic legacy of Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman and Tiba Abdullwahab Abdullaziz Al Othman. "Our donation is an extension of the legacy of Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman and Tiba Abdullwahab Abdullaziz Al Othman, who dedicated their lives to philanthropy and serving the community." He expressed hope that this endowment would positively impact healthcare services for cancer patients.
This collaboration between Kuwait’s endowment and Dubai’s health sector exemplifies a shared commitment to enhancing medical services. The partnership aims to ensure that cancer patients receive top-tier treatment while honouring past legacies through continued support for community welfare initiatives.
