UAE: Al Jalila Foundation Receives AED 10 Million Donation From CBD For Cancer Hospital
Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable branch of Dubai Health, has received a substantial AED10 million donation from Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD). This funding will aid in building the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, Dubai's first comprehensive cancer care facility. This collaboration highlights the importance of national partnerships in improving access to top-tier medical services, especially in oncology.
The agreement for this donation was formalised during an official visit to Al Jalila Foundation. Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, Chairman of CBD, and Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, were present for the signing. During this visit, Julfar and his team were informed about the Foundation’s main programmes and upcoming plans.

Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar expressed that their support for the hospital demonstrates a strong commitment to community service and providing advanced medical care to those in need. He stated, "Our support for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital reflects our deep-rooted commitment to serving the community and supporting individuals in need of advanced medical care." This initiative aligns with the UAE’s tradition of promoting philanthropy within healthcare.
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni acknowledged CBD's contribution as pivotal for advancing healthcare in Dubai. He remarked, "We thank Commercial Bank of Dubai for its generous contribution to a project that marks a major step forward in Dubai’s healthcare landscape." The partnership exemplifies how collaboration can bolster national efforts to enhance cancer treatment and patient outcomes.
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital spans 59,000 square metres and is being developed through donations managed by Al Jalila Foundation. It aims to be a leading medical institution equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. A highly skilled team of doctors and nurses will staff it, ensuring exceptional patient care.
The hospital's design incorporates feedback from cancer survivors to create a truly patient-focused environment. It features G+8 floors and has been recognised with Gold in the Future Healthcare Projects category by World Architecture News. Once operational, it will offer integrated cancer care services.
Al Jalila Foundation continues to build strategic alliances with businesses, institutions, and philanthropists. These partnerships ensure that advanced medical care remains accessible while supporting Dubai's vision for a healthier society as outlined in the Dubai Social Agenda 33.
The hospital will also contribute significantly to cancer research and education by developing innovative treatments and investing in training future medical professionals. This focus on research aims to improve patient outcomes through new therapies and educational initiatives.
