Al Jalila Foundation Teams Up With Positive Zero For Solar Energy Project

In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, Al Jalila Foundation, in collaboration with Positive Zero, has unveiled a solar power project at its premises. This initiative, a 20-year solar lease agreement executed by SirajPower, Positive Zero’s power generation arm and the leading distributed solar energy provider in the UAE, aims to harness clean solar energy for the foundation's operations.

The project is set to produce 4,403 MWh of clean solar power through rooftop and carport installations at Al Jalila Foundation's offices. This endeavor will not only supply renewable energy but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 3,121 metric tons. This reduction is akin to the environmental benefit of planting approximately 51,600 tree seedlings.

Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Foundation, emphasized the project's alignment with the foundation's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. He highlighted the initiative's role in promoting a healthier, more eco-friendly future in line with Dubai Health's vision.

Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain, Co-Founder and Chairman of Positive Zero, expressed pride in the partnership, underscoring its potential to serve as a model for philanthropic organizations seeking sustainable energy solutions. He also pointed out the UAE's leadership in solar energy capacity in the Middle East, with over 3,000 megawatts installed by 2022 and expectations for rapid growth.

The UAE anticipates a significant increase in photovoltaic solar capacity, projected to triple that of any other renewable source by 2030. This growth positions customers transitioning to renewable energy at the vanguard of a global shift towards cleaner energy sources.

Positive Zero has facilitated this project through financing, construction, operations, and maintenance services. Their model offers clean energy solutions without requiring upfront investment from customers, making sustainable energy more accessible.

Positive Zero’s foundational companies have made notable contributions across key GCC markets. SirajPower boasts the largest portfolio of distributed solar energy in the region with over 140 MWp. Taka Solutions has saved more than 100,000 MWh across various sectors. Additionally, HYPR Energy’s innovative mobile battery unit has provided cost-effective and cleaner power solutions for construction sites and remote locations.

This collaboration between Al Jalila Foundation and Positive Zero represents a forward-thinking approach to environmental responsibility and sustainable development within the UAE. It showcases how partnerships can effectively leverage technology for societal benefit while contributing to global efforts against climate change.
