Al Dhafra Dates Festival 2025 Launches With Cultural Activities And Auctions
The fourth Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction commenced in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, this event aims to enhance its reputation as a prominent international heritage festival. It will run until 26 October 2025, focusing on promoting date production and supporting national food security goals.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of cultural and educational activities. These include traditional folk performances, exhibitions of photography and paintings, heritage crafts, awareness lectures, and creative workshops suitable for all ages. Retail outlets will offer dates and related products, farming equipment, and a dedicated Honey Village for exploration.

This year's festival features 21 competitions with 173 prizes worth over AED5.5 million. The contests include date beauty pageants, honey competitions, cooking challenges, and events focused on date packaging, painting, and photography. The daily Date Auction is the highlight for many visitors, offering a chance to bid on premium Emirati dates displayed on special tables.
The festival also includes participation from government and private sector entities. These organisations will have pavilions showcasing interactive programmes and awareness platforms for farmers and visitors. They will display their latest services and innovations in agriculture.
This edition welcomes the Kingdom of Morocco as the guest of honour. This highlights cultural and agricultural exchanges between the two nations. The collaboration focuses on palm cultivation and date production while fostering cooperation in other key sectors.
The event encourages farmers to enhance quality standards through knowledge exchange in palm cultivation. It also aims to facilitate learning opportunities by bringing together experts from various fields related to agriculture.
Overall, the festival seeks to strengthen its position as a leading platform for showcasing premium date varieties while promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
