Al-Baha University Partners With IBM To Enhance Digital Skills Development In Saudi Arabia
Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Al-Baha Region, attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Al-Baha University and IBM. The agreement was formalised by Dr. Abdullah Al-Hussein, the university's president, and Bill Farrell, Managing Partner at IBM Consulting in the Middle East & Africa. Representatives from both entities were present during the event.
Dr. Al-Hussein expressed that this collaboration will significantly enhance academic cooperation with IBM, offering students valuable opportunities to gain essential skills for the digital era. He highlighted that the partnership is designed to cultivate a skilled Saudi workforce capable of contributing to national development.

The MoU includes plans to establish a Center of Excellence aimed at accelerating the development of Saudi talent through advanced training in modern technologies. This initiative addresses the increasing need for specialised skills within the Kingdom. IBM will provide practical training programs and access to its vast resources.
Al-Baha University will contribute by offering suitable facilities and logistical support to help outstanding students engage in these programs. This effort is part of a broader strategy by IBM to invest in Saudi Arabia, which includes opening a new regional headquarters and setting up a software development lab.
These investments underscore IBM's dedication to supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 as a prominent provider of global hybrid cloud computing, artificial intelligence solutions, and consulting services. According to IBM, its innovations in AI, quantum computing, industry-specific cloud solutions, and consulting offer open and flexible options for clients.
This partnership represents one of several recent investments by IBM in the Kingdom. By establishing new facilities and initiatives, IBM aims to reinforce its commitment to fostering technological advancement in line with Saudi Arabia's strategic goals.
The collaboration between Al-Baha University and IBM marks an important step towards equipping students with cutting-edge skills necessary for future success. Through this MoU, both institutions aim to create a robust framework for nurturing talent that aligns with national priorities.
