Al-Ardah Governorate, situated 77 kilometres east of Jizan city, is a notable area in the Jazan Region. It is renowned for its natural beauty, historical significance, and ongoing development projects. The governorate's landscape is marked by the Sarawat Mountains and a moderate climate, especially during spring when valleys turn lush green.

The region's agricultural diversity is impressive, with mangoes, grains, and various fruits being widely cultivated. Aromatic plants like screw pine, chrysanthemums, narcissus, and wormwood contribute to its distinct southern charm. This blend of agriculture and nature makes Al-Ardah a unique destination.

Al-Ardah: Nature and Development in Jazan

Al-Ardah comprises three main administrative centres: Qays, Al Humayra, and Al-Qasabah. Over 600 villages are home to nearly 125,000 residents. The historic Abu Soma Fortress stands as a testament to the past. It once served as a centre for collecting zakat and storing grains. Its architectural features continue to preserve its legacy today. This fortress adds a historical dimension to the region's appeal.

In 2004, Al-Ardah was internationally recognised as a "Healthy City" by the World Health Organization. This made it the second city in Jazan to receive such recognition. This classification underscores its dedication to public health and balanced development.
