Airbus Projects Demand For 4,080 New Passenger Aircraft Deliveries In Middle East Over Next Two Decades

Airbus has released its Global Market Forecast for 2025, highlighting the Middle East as a rapidly expanding aviation hub. The forecast indicates that the region's active aircraft fleet will grow from 1,480 in 2024 to 3,700 by 2044. This growth underscores the Middle East's pivotal role in global aviation expansion over the next two decades.

The demand for new passenger aircraft in the Middle East is projected at 4,080 over the next 20 years. This includes 2,380 single-aisle and 1,700 widebody jets. Notably, widebody aircraft will account for 42% of this demand, which is more than twice the global average of 20%. This positions the Middle East as a key driver of widebody aircraft growth worldwide.

Airbus Forecasts New Aircraft Demand in Middle East

Passenger traffic in the Middle East is anticipated to rise at an annual rate of 4.4%. This increase is supported by strong economic development, tourism, and trade activities. Additionally, the population in the region is expected to grow by 240 million during this period, further boosting air travel demand.

"The Middle East is transforming global aviation," stated Gabriel Semelas, President of Airbus in Africa and Middle East. "The forecast fleet expansion is truly significant, particularly when it comes to widebodies. This region is becoming the long-haul hub now and into the future. Airbus is proud to be partnering closely with customers in the region, delivering the most efficient, latest-generation aircraft, end-to-end support, and sustainable solutions."

The expanding aviation network in the Middle East will require over 265,000 new employees within two decades. This includes approximately 69,000 pilots, nearly 64,000 technicians, and about 132,000 cabin crew members. These figures highlight significant employment opportunities within the sector.

The regional commercial aviation services market is valued at around US$30 billion over the next two decades. Growth in services will focus on maintaining aircraft availability and enhancing training programs. Additionally, there will be advancements in flight operations and Air Traffic Management solutions alongside cabin upgrades and connectivity improvements.

The strategic geographic location of the Middle East continues to attract global air traffic as it shifts eastwards. The region's role as a long-haul hub solidifies its importance in worldwide aviation dynamics.
