Air Connectivity Program And MDA Collaborate With Transavia France To Launch New Flight Routes To Madinah

The Air Connectivity Program (ACP), in collaboration with the Al Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA), has revealed an expansion of Transavia France's flight services to Saudi Arabia. Starting in October, new routes will connect Paris-Orly, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse with Madinah. This development builds on last year's successful launch of routes from Paris-Orly and Lyon to Jeddah, enhancing air travel between the two nations.

Majid Khan, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program, highlighted the importance of this expansion for Saudi Arabia's tourism goals. He noted that strengthening air links between France and Saudi Arabia is a key element of the National Tourism Strategy. This initiative aims to leverage opportunities in the Umrah market from France while supporting broader tourism objectives.

New Flight Routes to Madinah Announced

Sofiene Abdessalem, CEO of Tibah Airports Operation Company, emphasized Madinah's selection as a new destination for Transavia France. He stated that this choice highlights the city's religious and cultural significance and enhances its presence on the global air connectivity map. The expansion facilitates direct access from Europe and enriches travel experiences for pilgrims and visitors worldwide.

Abdessalem also stressed the commitment to aligning with the Saudi Aviation Strategy by expanding international destinations. This involves integrating efforts with public and private sector partners to meet Vision 2030 objectives. He acknowledged the Air Connectivity Program's role in fostering strategic partnerships that boost tourism growth and improve access to Saudi destinations.

Nicolas Henin, Chief Commercial Officer of Transavia France, expressed satisfaction with the successful operation of routes between Lyon – Jeddah and Paris-Orly – Jeddah. He conveyed excitement about launching flights to Madinah and furthering collaboration with Saudi airports. Henin remarked on Transavia France's enthusiasm for expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia.

The Air Connectivity Program aims to boost tourism by developing existing air routes and establishing new ones. This effort connects Saudi Arabia with global destinations, reinforcing its status as a leading tourist hub in air connectivity. As a key enabler of both the National Tourism Strategy and the Saudi Aviation Strategy, ACP promotes cooperation among stakeholders across tourism and aviation sectors.

This expansion underscores Saudi Arabia's position as a major travel destination while supporting Vision 2030's tourism objectives by increasing tourist arrivals. The initiative not only enhances connectivity but also strengthens partnerships within public and private sectors, contributing significantly to tourism growth.
