Ahmed Bin Saeed Launches MRO Middle East And AIME 2025, Highlighting Aviation Growth
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum inaugurated the MRO Middle East and Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) 2025. This event is the largest of its kind in the region, running for two days and gathering leaders from the global aviation supply chain. With the aviation sector booming and passenger demand soaring, there is a renewed emphasis on aircraft modernisation and maintenance services.
The event hosted over 250 international exhibitors aiming to collaborate and shape the future of MRO and aircraft interiors industries. Key announcements included GE Aerospace's US$10 million investment in its Middle Eastern MRO facilities and FL Technics' plans to expand with a new Line Maintenance Station at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC).
Airbus launched its Middle East Services Forecast for 2024-2043, highlighting a shift towards digital operations in commercial aviation services. The global services demand is projected to reach US$32 billion by 2043, with the Middle East experiencing significant growth. The Go Live! Theater will host experts discussing key industry themes over two days.
During day one, Steven Greenway, CEO of flyadeal, participated in an AIME ‘CEO Unplugged’ interview. He shared insights on flyadeal's expansion strategies, supply chain challenges, and future vision. "The domestic market in the Kingdom is growing 15% annually," he noted, emphasising AI's role in efficiency through tools like chatbots.
A panel discussion titled ‘MRO Capacity Challenges in the Middle East’ explored ways to minimise downtime and optimise repair times amid rising maintenance demands. Industry leaders like Ziad Al Hazmi of Lufthansa Technik Middle East and Ahmed Bakadam of flyadeal shared their insights on addressing these challenges effectively.
Daniel Hoffmann, CEO of Etihad Engineering, remarked on the region's strategic position in the global MRO landscape. "The Middle East is well-positioned to play a greater role," he stated, noting significant investments in new facilities across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The event underscores the dynamic growth within the aviation sector in the Middle East. It highlights ongoing efforts to modernise aircraft operations while addressing capacity challenges through strategic investments and collaborations among industry leaders.
