Ahmed Bin Saeed Opens 24th Edition Of Airport Show Highlighting Innovations In Aviation
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum inaugurated the 24th Airport Show at Dubai World Trade Centre. This event, running until 8th May 2025, is a significant platform for the airport industry in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA). The exhibition attracts over 6,000 trade visitors from 30 countries to explore innovations shaping future airports.
The Airport Show features participation from 140 exhibitors across 22 countries. These exhibitors engage with more than 150 qualified buyers from over 70 organisations worldwide. The event highlights advancements in passenger experience, airport traffic management, and sustainability. It also focuses on digitalisation and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

Sheikh Ahmed remarked on Dubai's aviation sector's growth, driven by infrastructure expansion and new technologies. He stated, "Dubai’s aviation sector is on a clear upward trajectory, driven by infrastructure expansion and the adoption of new technologies." Both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) are pivotal in shaping air travel's future.
The Middle East is witnessing a surge in airport expansion projects due to global aviation recovery and optimistic passenger growth forecasts. By 2040, the region expects to handle around 1.1 billion passengers annually, up from 405 million in 2019. Significant investments are being made to meet this demand.
The show includes two conferences: Global Airport Leaders’ Forum and Women in Aviation Middle East Conference. These feature over 30 sessions with more than 70 aviation leaders and experts sharing insights into industry trends. The conferences provide valuable perspectives on issues shaping airports globally.
Key trends highlighted at the exhibition include emission reduction technologies, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, predictive operations management, and urban air mobility. Advanced platforms like AEROWISE use digital twin technology for proactive airport management.
Future Projections for Air Traffic
The Airport Show supports the US$1 trillion airport development market in MEASA. According to ACI World projections for 2025, global passenger traffic will reach 9.9 billion. ICAO estimates global Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK) will rise to 9.4 trillion by then.
By 2030, global passenger traffic is expected to exceed 12 billion as per an ACI World-ICAO Passenger Traffic Report. This growth underscores the importance of events like the Airport Show in addressing future challenges and opportunities within the aviation sector.
Since its inception in 2001, the Airport Show has been a key event in Dubai’s aviation calendar. Sheikh Ahmed expressed confidence that this edition will further bolster regional aviation growth as they look forward to celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2026.
