Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Opens 27th WETEX Exhibition Showcasing Sustainability Innovations

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, highlighted Dubai's leadership in the green economy transition. This progress is attributed to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed inaugurated the 27th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) organised by DEWA.

The exhibition, running from 30 September to 2 October 2025, hosts over 3,100 companies from 65 countries. This participation reflects Dubai's influence as a global centre for sustainability and innovation. The event showcases innovative solutions in energy, water, environment, and technology, supporting the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed noted that WETEX has become crucial for presenting innovative solutions in energy and technology. It aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. "Dubai has become a strategic hub for hosting major international events," he stated.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder of WETEX, emphasised that under directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and patronage from H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, WETEX fosters innovation and investment opportunities. "It allows specialised companies to showcase their latest technologies," he said.

Al Tayer highlighted that WETEX facilitates partnerships between local and international companies in renewable energy sectors. It provides a platform for exchanging expertise with specialists worldwide. The exhibition also includes seminars and panel discussions featuring experts from major companies globally.

During his tour of WETEX, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed explored advancements in clean energy, water sustainability, AI technologies, digital tools, and Fourth Industrial Revolution applications. He visited pavilions from countries like China, Russia, Germany, France, and South Korea.

Showcasing Innovative Projects

At DEWA’s stand, Saeed Al Tayer briefed H.H. Sheikh Ahmed on DEWA’s projects such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and Hatta Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant. These initiatives highlight DEWA's commitment to smart solutions in energy management.

The exhibition underscores Dubai’s role as a key player in addressing global climate challenges through innovative business models that balance economic growth with resource conservation.
