Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Opens 26th WETEX Exhibition Focusing On Sustainability And Clean Energy
Dubai has emerged as a leader in the green economy, focusing on clean and renewable energy. This transformation is guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The emirate is now a prime location for global events centred on sustainability and innovation, addressing environmental challenges to promote sustainable development.
The 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the event took place from 1st to 3rd October at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It featured over 2,800 companies from 65 countries.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted that sustainability and energy security are top priorities globally. WETEX serves as a platform for innovation and investment, supporting the UAE's shift towards a sustainable green economy. The event fosters cooperation among specialists, decision-makers, investors, and major companies worldwide.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder of WETEX, stated that under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, they organise WETEX annually to showcase global advancements in clean energy, water sustainability, and green technologies.
WETEX hosts 21 international pavilions from 14 countries. Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, noted Italy's commitment to a greener economy. He emphasised collaboration between Emirati and Italian firms in clean energy and water management.
Alexander Schönfelder, Germany's Ambassador to the UAE, stressed the importance of renewable energy in combating climate change. He expressed enthusiasm for German companies showcasing their technology at WETEX 2024.
Global Collaboration
Yoo Jehseung, South Korea's Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted WETEX as a platform for engaging with UAE buyers. The Korea Pavilion features advanced water sector technologies from leading Korean companies.
Jean-Christophe Paris, Consul-General of France in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, stated that France's participation reflects its commitment to tackling global challenges through innovation. The French Pavilion aligns with the UAE’s sustainability vision.
Technological Innovations
During his tour of WETEX, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed visited DEWA’s pavilion where Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer briefed him on key projects like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This solar park aims for a production capacity exceeding 5,000 megawatts by 2030.
The exhibition also showcased DEWA's Green Hydrogen Project and initiatives like electric vehicle charging stations. International pavilions from countries such as Russia, Italy, Korea, Germany and China displayed their latest technologies.
Strategic Partnerships
The exhibition facilitates partnerships between global companies in sectors like electricity and environmental sustainability. It introduces international audiences to Dubai's efforts in clean energy and environmental sustainability.
Matar Humaid Al Tayer welcomed H.H. Sheikh Ahmed along with other officials during his visit to WETEX. They explored innovations in energy solutions including digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications.
The event underscores Dubai’s role as a hub for sustainable development initiatives globally while promoting strategic partnerships across vital sectors.
