Affordable Housing Projects In Dubai: Agreement Signed To Enhance Community Well-Being

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, witnessed the signing of an agreement to initiate affordable housing projects in Dubai. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Municipality, and Wasl Group are collaborating on this initiative. This agreement aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aims to provide diverse housing options while supporting urban centres and economic sectors.

The first phase of these housing projects spans six areas, including Me'aisem 1, Al Twar 1, Al Qusais Industrial Area 5, and Al Leyan 1. Covering approximately 1.46 million square metres, the development will offer over 17,000 residential units. These units will cater to skilled professionals from various nationalities working in both public and private sectors.

Dubai Signs Agreement for Affordable Housing Projects

The Affordable Housing Policy seeks to create vibrant communities and support urban centres that drive key economic sectors. It aims to diversify employment opportunities while addressing housing needs across income levels. The policy also focuses on providing high-quality housing options that meet approved standards and ensure connectivity to essential services.

Mattar Al Tayer of the RTA highlighted the importance of housing under leadership guidance. He stated: "Housing remains a key priority under the guidance of our leadership, reflecting their commitment to enhancing community well-being and quality of life." He emphasised that the programme supports individual welfare and promotes a balanced lifestyle.

Marwan Ahmad bin Ghalita from Dubai Municipality noted that these projects reflect Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision for a cohesive society. He said: "The affordable housing projects reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum...to build a cohesive and prosperous society." This vision aims to position Dubai as an ideal city for living and working.

The agreement was signed by Mattar Al Tayer for RTA, Marwan bin Ghalita for Dubai Municipality, and Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim for Wasl Group. The collaboration follows directives from The Executive Council of Dubai to allocate land for these projects.

Sustainable Urban Development

Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim of Wasl Group expressed commitment to inclusive urban living through this collaboration. He stated: "At Wasl, we are committed to shaping a future where inclusive urban living is a reality for all." The partnership aims to deliver sustainable housing solutions aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The programme also contributes to reducing commuting times between homes and workplaces. This helps lower living costs, enhance productivity, and improve employee satisfaction. It aligns with UAE’s designation of 2025 as the ‘Year of Community’.

The new projects introduced under HH Sheikh Hamdan's directives represent significant progress in developing sustainable urban centres in Dubai. They aim to build inclusive communities equipped with comprehensive services that meet residents’ needs while supporting job creation and economic activity.

This initiative underscores unified efforts in addressing housing affordability challenges in Dubai. Insights from recent workshops have highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving these goals.
