AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Set To Kick Off On January 7 With Eight Stadiums Across Three Cities
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the local organising committee for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 have announced that the tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 6, 2027. This event marks the 19th edition of Asia's top football competition, promising an engaging experience for fans across the continent.
Saudi Arabian Football Federation President Yasser Al Misehal highlighted this announcement as a significant step in Saudi Arabia's journey to host the tournament. "The local organizing committee is committed to delivering an exceptional edition of the Asian Cup that meets the high expectations of football fans across the continent," Al Misehal stated.

The tournament will be held in eight stadiums across three cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. Each city will feature a main stadium. In Riyadh, King Fahd Sports City Stadium is undergoing major upgrades to meet top standards. Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, known as "The Shining Jewel," recently hosted the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup Final.
In Al Khobar, a newly built stadium will serve as the focal point for matches in the Eastern Region. Besides these main venues, Riyadh will also utilise King Saud University Stadium, Al Shabab Stadium, Kingdom Arena, and an upgraded Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud University Stadium with a seating capacity expanded to 21,000.
Al Misehal expressed gratitude towards AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and his team for their continuous support. He emphasised that this achievement results from strong leadership support and guidance from Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal.
This hosting opportunity aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, building on recent successes in organising international sports events like the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup and other prestigious tournaments such as the Spanish and Italian Super Cups.
Participating Nations
Eighteen nations have already qualified for this prestigious tournament: Saudi Arabia (host nation), Australia, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Iran, Qatar, UAE, Japan, Korea Republic, Oman, Palestine, Jordan, Bahrain, China PR, Indonesia, DPR Korea, Kuwait, and Kyrgyz Republic. The final six spots will be decided through upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Jeddah will also host matches at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium. This venue previously hosted several matches during the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. The commitment to delivering a memorable event reflects Saudi Arabia's growing influence in international sports.
