ADNOC Collaborates With NPCC, Technip, And JGC On Groundbreaking Ruwais LNG Project
In a significant development for the energy sector, NPCC, in collaboration with Technip Energies and JGC Corporation, has been awarded a Limited Notice To Proceed (LNTP) by ADNOC for the initial phase of the Ruwais Low-Carbon LNG Project. Situated in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, this project is poised to revolutionize the LNG production landscape in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The project encompasses the construction of two natural gas liquefaction trains, aiming for a total LNG production capacity of 9.6 Mtpa. A notable feature of this project is its reliance on electric-driven motors, which will be powered by clean energy sources, distinguishing it from traditional gas turbine-operated plants. This initiative marks a significant leap towards reducing carbon emissions and aligns with the global shift towards decarbonization.

The Ruwais Low-Carbon LNG Project is set to become the first LNG export facility in the MENA region to operate on clean power. This distinction positions it as one of the world's LNG plants with the lowest carbon intensity, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability and energy transition.
Ahmed Al Dhaheri, CEO of NPCC, expressed his pride in being part of this groundbreaking project, emphasizing its role in setting new industry standards for environmental sustainability and energy transition. He highlighted the project's potential to significantly lower carbon emissions and contribute to a cleaner future.
Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, shared his views on the project's significance in the journey towards net zero. He stressed the critical role of LNG in the global energy landscape and Technip Energies' commitment to advancing the industry while addressing emission reduction. Pieton underscored the innovative approach of powering LNG trains with zero carbon energy sources, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Farhan Mujib, Representative Director and President of JGC, commented on the alignment of the project with global decarbonization efforts. He spoke about JGC Group's dedication to promoting energy transition and the project's contribution to the success of these initiatives. Mujib also highlighted the project's expected impact on economic growth within the UAE.
This project not only enhances ADNOC's LNG production capacity but also signals a substantial shift towards meeting the rising global natural gas demand in a sustainable manner. Through the collective efforts of NPCC, Technip Energies, and JGC Corporation, the Ruwais Low-Carbon LNG Project is poised to set a new standard in the industry, ensuring a sustainable energy future.
