ADNOC's Hail And Ghasha Offshore Gas Mega-Project Reaches Key Sail-Out Milestone

ADNOC has reached a significant milestone in its Hail and Ghasha mega-project. The project recently completed the "sail-out" and installation of crucial offshore facility structures from the NMDC Energy Yard in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. These structures, known as steel "jackets," serve as the foundation for the project's offshore facilities.

The initial two jackets were delivered on time, adhering to top safety and quality standards. They were moved from the fabrication yard to a cargo barge and transported 160 kilometres offshore. NMDC's Safeen-3000 vessel then accurately positioned them on the seabed. This accomplishment highlights the exceptional coordination and expertise of the project teams and partners involved.

Hail and Ghasha Project Achieves Sail-Out Milestone

The Hail and Ghasha Development Project is recognised as the largest gas development of its kind globally. It plays a crucial role in achieving gas self-sufficiency for the UAE while boosting gas exports. The concession aims to produce 1.5 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas daily, meeting the combined daily gas demand of Ireland, Greece, and Portugal.

ADNOC is committed to operating with net-zero emissions by capturing 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually. This effort is equivalent to removing over 300,000 fossil fuel-powered cars from roads, demonstrating ADNOC's dedication to environmental sustainability.

Local Manufacturing and Economic Growth

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC Upstream CEO, stated that this sail-out brings them closer to delivering on their goals for UAE gas self-sufficiency. He emphasised that this mega-project is being developed within the Emirates, driving industrial growth and strengthening advanced manufacturing capabilities in the UAE.

The Hail and Ghasha project aligns with ADNOC's commitment to boosting In-Country Value by prioritising local manufacturing and investing in UAE-based suppliers. This approach supports economic diversification while nurturing local talent through initiatives like recruiting 118 UAE graduates across the project.

ADNOC's efforts provide highly skilled career opportunities for UAE nationals, enabling them to play a vital role in delivering this world-scale project. The initiative embodies the ethos of "Make it in the Emirates," showcasing ADNOC's success in fostering local industry growth while supporting national economic objectives.
