ADNOC Gas Enters Three-Year LNG Supply Agreement With Germany’s SEFE For Energy Security

ADNOC Gas Plc, along with its subsidiaries, has secured a three-year deal to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany's SEFE Securing Energy for Europe. This agreement involves the delivery of 0.7 million tonnes of LNG starting this year and is valued at around $400 million (AED1.5 billion). The LNG will be sourced from ADNOC Gas’ Das Island facility, a significant asset in their portfolio.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, CEO of ADNOC Gas, stated, "This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening our long-standing partnership with SEFE and reinforces ADNOC Gas’ role as a reliable and responsible global energy provider, committed to supporting Germany’s energy security. It also reflects the strong progress we are making in delivering our strategic objectives and demonstrates the confidence our partners, investors, and stakeholders place in our ability to create long-term value in a dynamic energy landscape."

ADNOC Gas and SEFE Sign LNG Agreement

Das Island's LNG plant has been operational since 1977, shipping over 3,500 cargoes globally. With a production capacity of 6 mtpa, it plays a crucial role in ADNOC Gas' expansion into international markets. This new agreement further solidifies ADNOC Gas' position as a key player in the global energy sector.

Frédéric Barnaud, Chief Commercial Officer of SEFE, commented on the partnership: "Over the past two decades, we’ve built a strong partnership with ADNOC, and we value our relationship with such a reputable and reliable supplier. This new medium-term LNG contract builds on the long-term supply agreement with ADNOC that we signed last year, thereby adding another flexible source of LNG to our portfolio – to the benefit of both Europe’s security of supply and our global market trading activities."

The collaboration between UAE and Germany is further strengthened by agreements like the 2022 Energy Security and Industry Accelerator pact and the 2024 Joint Declaration with Baden-Württemberg. These initiatives aim to enhance energy security and promote sustainable fuel development.

Natural gas serves as an essential transitional fuel due to its lower carbon emissions compared to other fossil fuels. It is also vital for industrial value chains. ADNOC Gas is focused on increasing its natural gas production capacity while expanding its global LNG exports.

SEFE is dedicated to ensuring energy security across Germany and Europe by broadening its international portfolio. By partnering with leading LNG producers worldwide, SEFE aims to provide diversified and reliable energy sources for Germany and beyond.

The collaboration between ADNOC Gas and SEFE highlights their commitment to fostering strong partnerships that support global energy needs while addressing environmental concerns through cleaner fuel options.
